except that water was not heated prior to freezing. The ridges
and crystalline structure are sharp and clear and we see a
healthy looking crystal. The natural structure is defined.

Why the difference?
Same
batch of distilled water as used in producing figure 1,
except that water was heated in 8 ounce glass beaker inside a
microwave oven to a temperature of 120 degrees. The ridges and
crystalline structure are blurred and merged and the color
begins to fade . The natural structure is deformed.
